Trailblazers Project
A video briefly documenting the activities of Trailblazers at Birmingham Council House February 2016.
Twenty groups of six Year 10 students (14 and 15 year olds) planned and executed walks exploring their home city, from familiar territories to places they’d only ever heard about or seen named on a map. Working with 20 schools across Birmingham, a series of animated documentaries were created using the photographs and voices of students sharing their perspective on the City of Birmingham, addressing issues such as homelessness, race, gender, equality, employment, the environment, homosexuality, graffiti and mental health. The outcome: An A0 illustrated map, an interactive Prezi, 24 animations, and discussions and screenings at the Birmingham Council House, allowing youngsters to feedback their thoughts and concerns to the Council and the Mayor of Birmingham.
